Becky Kalmowitz has a new restaurant at the Tyler Pounds Regional Airport! She will serve lunch and breakfast, from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays. American-style sandwiches and salads and will offer something for everyone, including a junk food junkie menu, as well as options for the health conscious. Her menu will have everyone covered from the women watching their weight with low-fat salads to the men who want a big juicy burger and fries. She promises to have the best of both worlds. She also plans to bring back the renowned pounder burger, which she will call the belly buster a 1-pound hamburger with an option of 1 pound of fries to go along with it. She said she is trying to bring back the nostalgia of the 1-pound burger, which has been requested by several people. But her belly buster will come with a twist a homemade 10 to 12 inch bun. - Submitted by Dave
3/15/2010 - We had the Sonny's Steak Cheese Sandwich and their Rueben. Both very good. I would like to go back and try a hamburger. The Historic Aviation Memorial Museum www.tylerhamm.org is right there in the Old Terminal Building with the Skyline Café.

3/26/2010 - We placed Skyline Cafe on our trip planner this morning and ate lunch there. We shared a Belly buster and I tell you, what a HUGH hamburger. It weighs a pound and the taste was fabulous. I challenge anyone to eat it by themselves. I also had a piece of the chocolate cake and it too was fantastic. I understand they bake everything fresh and from scratch. This is one place that will be on my trip planner each time we come to East Texas. Best of luck and much success Skyline Cafe.

6/7/2010 - I wanted to tell you about this great restaurant in Tyler Texas. It is called Skyline Cafe. We went to Skyline Cafe with my family and two other crews, flew right up to the restaurant. We all parked our plane RIGHT outside their window, one of the owners let us in through their gate which was directly into their restaurant. Talk about curb service with a smile. This Cafe was so easy to get in and out of, friendly service and the food was the finest we have eaten in a long long time. My brother and I split their Belly Buster which had to be 10 round, this was a one pound hamburger, a one pound bun and a pound of fries. I tell you, this IS the best hamburger in all of Texas and we eat at a lot of places. Definitely worth the gas to go visit. My wife likes to eat healthy and she had a Veggie wrap with fresh fruit. I don't know who they get their produce from but their plates were picture perfect. What a presentation and from what I could tell....ALL the plates look delicious. Please post this on your web site so others can fly in and try them out. If you need their info I have attached the web site and phone number. They have a great menu to boot. http://www.skylinecafe.org/, 903 593 7455, Take Care, Aaron.

7/7/2010 - My wife and I ate at the cafe on Saturday - prior to attending the air show at the museum. The burgers were awesome. The fries are great as well! In fact, we were both impressed with the caliber of fries that they served. I've eaten more than my share of 'em over the years, and these were really good. I'd recommend the chili-cheese fries. The chili was outstanding, and more reminiscent of the kind you see winning a chili cook-off which I've judged many of, rather than what you normally get at a restaurant. All that to say, it tasted homemade, and not out of a can! Don't forget to try the homemade Chocolate Cake!! It's outstanding, too!! Our server, Dan, was very nice as well. We'll be back there soon!

10/9/2010 - I flew to KTYR this morning to meet some fly-in friends from Meacham and E. Texas. We ate at the newly re-opened Skyline Cafe and had a wonderful breakfast. This is a good fly-in location for breakfast or lunch. Their menu is varied and reasonable. It's great to have a fly-in/dine option at Tyler.

10/30/2010 - Flew in yesterday and I was impressed. We parked right outside their Cafe and was escorted in by Larry. We split the Belly Buster between my husband and I and it was the best burger I've ever eaten. For dessert we split a piece of their carrot cake which is to die for. I can't wait until next week when we go back.
