Van's Aircraft's head of engineering Rian Johnson, who is also the chair of the ASTM F37 committee working on the new MOSAIC program, talked to the local EAA chapter recently on what the FAA's approval of MOSAIC means to pilots, owners, and aircraft builders. MOSAIC will provide a more affordable certification basis for new airplanes, in addition to dramatically expanding the range of aircraft that can be flown by Sport Pilots.
