Ernie's Restaurant - South Boston, VA (48 miles)

Ernie's Restaurant Located about a 5 minute drive from W78. This place is flying below the radar right now and unless you know it's there, you will miss it. Fly-in traffic is welcomed. Just give Ernie's a call once you get on the ground and they will be happy to transport you to and from their restaurant. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Quite a few pilots have and continue to fly in for a stop at Ernie's. Good home cooked buffet style restaurant as well as menu items. W78 has a 4000' paved runway as well as a 2000' grass strip along with self serve avgas. - Submitted by Dan Bishop

Martha's Restaurant - Star, NC (55 miles)

Martha's Restaurant Martha's Restaurant is a short walk from the FBO. Walk across the field at the end of the ramp, which usually has a mowed path, or cross the runway and follow the road around. Good food and reasonably priced. - Submitted by Walt Weaver

BBQ in Lexington - Lexington, NC (58 miles)

BBQ in Lexington Fun cross country to visit any of the dozen BBQ places around Lexington. Friendly airport, no parking fees, courtesy cars available. They do ask that you throw a couple bucks worth of gas in the car while out, small favor to ask for use of the airport I think and was happy to fill it up for them. I highly recommend Backcountry BBQ. 5 minutes from the field and some of the best BBQ I have ever had. Loaded up and flew some back to RDU as well. This will definitely be a return trip for me. - Submitted by Dan Bishop

Harnett Regional Jetport - Warren Aviation - Erwin, NC (63 miles)

Sam's Flying Scoops @ KJNX Ice cream right at the ramp. They have a huge number of flavors available. It's ice cream direct from the creamery. Their spot is to the right of the FBO. Park anywhere in that area and they have picnic tables for your enjoyment. - Submitted by Bradley Pearce
