4/30/2018 - I flew in to KSJS today for the purpose of stopping for lunch at the Cloud 9 Cafe, I was impressed. I fairly small place just behind the FBO or just in front depending on where you are standing.
Well I walked in and sat down. Looked the menu over and ordered a Salsa Burger hand pressed burger, with grilled onions and salsa it was very tasty. Got Curly fries with it. Nothing special with the fries, but they gave you enough for 2 people to share. I also go coffee, most places I have gotten coffee at recently at least at airport diners has not been good, but here it was very tasty.
Then dessert. Oh, I will come back here for nothing more than dessert. Seriously get in your car, your plane, a friends plane and fly here for dessert. The Gooey Orange with orange and vanilla sherbet was amazing.
Also when flying in the runway is 3/21 if I recall correctly if coming in on 3 it is uphill and vice versa for 21 downhill. It can be a bit deceiving but still isn't hard to make the first turn if you come in slow. - Submitted by Joey
2/26/2015 - Highly recommended even if you drive... it's that good! I stopped in on a return flight from Morristown KMOR to Lapeer D95 during a visit to the Smokey Mountains last fall, a 475 mile trip so I needed a fuel/food stop along the way. Big Sandy KSJS was my choice and what a great place. The owner of the FBO greeted me on the Unicom, pumped my fuel and made me feel a welcome guest. His daughter owns Cloud 9 restaurant and did an amazing job of providing a home cooked roast beef dinner that I would have easily flown 100 plus miles for had it been in my home state. This place is a must stop if traveling through and a great destination if you are based anywhere near, no doubt by far the best home cooked food from any airport ever! - Submitted by Victor Adamko
