Altus-Quartz Mountain Regional (KAXS), We stayed at Quartz Mountain Resort 3-8-03. Beautiful new facility. Wonderful restaurant on site. Beautiful views and walking/hiking trails. Right under the control tower. There is a great view of the runway. Good food! Monster cinnamon rolls. Oven-baked omelets. Daily lunch specials. Monday through Saturday 7am-3pm. Sunday 8am-3pm.

Okemah has a transit system which will take you to a restaurant and deliver you back to your plane, for $1 each way. KATS Public Transportation 918-623-1992. The breakfast destination is K-Bar Restaurant, with lunch destinations including Brick Street Cafe, Hen House Cafe, Sofia's Mexican Restaurant, Monterrey's Mexican Restaurant, T C'S Smokehouse Grill, Burger Paradise/ Burger Shack, and the K-Bar Restaurant. Nice N/S 2585 x 100 ft. turf strip. Transit operates M-F, but special arrangements may be made for groups on weekends. Great people, friendly and hospitable. Woody Guthrie's birthplace.

3-3-2007 We were flying back from St. Louis to San Antonio and stopped in Idabel, OK for fuel (under $3.00) :-) The airport had a courtsey car (honor system) available and we found our way to David Beard's Seafood & Steak. Food and prices were great - especially the catfish.

Sulphur (F30), The brochure accurately describes this wonderful place asA beautiful resort specializing in romantic luxury lodging and fine dining. It is located on 30 acres in the Arbuckle Mountains, and is owned and beautifully managed by Joe and Carol Vanhorn, two of the finest folks you will ever meet. I have spent a weekend in this wonderful property, and I highly recomment Echo Canyon Resort. I have also flown to the resort to enjoy Carol's wonderful breakfast. Ponca City Regional Airport (KPNC), Enrique's is on the field in the terminal building. Great mexican food. There is a self service 24 hour pump for 100LL that takes CC. The Ponca City Aviation Booster Club holds a fly in breakfast there the first Saturday of each month. - Submitted by kent |

Falconhead Airport (37K), Imagine a place where your closest neighbor might be a pair of white tailed deer and the only traffic noise is a bunch of coyote pups. Falconhead is just what you are looking for - a scenic, restful community in southern Oklahoma. Just north of the Red River in Oklahoma. There is a nice restaurant in the lodge. If you like catfish, then you have to visit Catfish John's. It's just down the road from the airport and, if you call ahead, you can probably get the courtesy car. There are several restaruants nearby, so if you're on one of those 100 Hamburger treks, you're in luck. There's everything from good ol' down-home cookin' to German cuisine. They even have a McDonalds if you're really after that 100 hamburger but there are better ones in town.

Lake Murray State Park Airport (1F1), Lake Murray State Park has an Air Strip right next to a beautiful golf course. Go into the golfing shop and call the Lake Murray Lodge and they will come pick you up. Great place to eat and spend the night. - Submitted by newslinknet |
