The City of Lakeland has a long and proud aviation history. Most residents of the city are aware of the Lakeland Linder Regional Airport, the modern, municipally owned airport in south Lakeland. The airport is nationally and internationally known as the home of the Sun 'n Sun Fly-in, that annual celebration of aviation and aircraft that takes place every Spring.

Eagle Creek Airpark and Rick's Boat Yard - Indianapolis, IN
Fly under Indianapolis IND airspace to Eagle Creek Airport KEYE on the NW side of Indianapolis. Walk across the street to one of the best restaurants within walking distance of any airport in Indiana. Ricks Boat Yard Restaurant is ON THE WATER with wonderful views and a great menu. Often enjoy live music, Seafood fresh lobster, indoor or patio tables, even free boatrides on the lake on some evenings, courtesy of Rick's Boatyard restaurant. 5.00 Landing fee at airport, but worth it. Sometimes you will be greeted with water on the ramp and a golf cart ride to EYE terminal. Runway is 3/21 orientation and has taxiway. This will be a favorite!

Auger Inn - Ogden, UT
The Auger Inn is located in the terminal building and is open seven days a week from 7am to 3pm. From a table by the windows, visual entertainment is provided by landing traffic and a steady parade of planes taxing in front of the terminal.The menu is standard breakfast and lunch fare with a little twang of Southwest. The hot cakes cover a dinner plate. The sweet rolls are a meal by themselves. The house specialty is their Augeritta, a cross between a burrito and an enchilada.

Roche Harbour - San Juan Island, WA
Roche Harbor is a picturesque resort village situated on San Juan Island’s secluded northwest coastline. Koppe Bridge - College Station, TX
This is your quintessential $100 hamburger trip. The hamburgers are fresh and big enough to feed two. Fries are fresh cut and crispy. Counterstaff are mostly young coeds, friendly and cute (my daughter would say the guys are cute too). Just a short trip from KCLL - go out on Harvey Mitchell, right on Wellborn, less than a 1/2 mile on your left - you'll likely miss it because it doesn't look like a burger joint! Have fun. 56th Fighter Group Restaurant - East Farmingdale, NY
Wedged between Islip's Class C and the New York Class B, Republic Airport is very busy, but well-run. The 56th Fighter Group Restaraunt is on the field and features WWII memorabilia and great views of 3 vintage fighters and the airfield. Great Sunday brunch buffett, and swing dancing on Thursday nights. The American Airpower Museum is also on the field.

Really, really nice folks at this airport. They offer 3 courtesy cars. SHORT drive into town, where you will find your choice of fast food places: McDonald's; Burger King; Taco Bell; Wendy's; Pizza Hut; Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Methow Valley - Twisp, WA
The Methow Valley offers road and mountain biking, great fishing, and the nicest x-c ski trails anywhere. Twisp airport has a courtesy car and its an easy walk to the Methow river or into town for lunch. Airport has grassy area for overnight camping, an annual fly in in July and cookouts every friday night weather permitting.

Located just a few miles north of Des Moines, IA, yet out of the Class C airspace, Ankeny is the general aviation hub for the greater Des Moines area. Located within a ten minute drive is the Prairie Meadows Reacetrack and Casino, Adventureland Amusement Park, in addition to several great restaurants, hotels, and shopping. 8-20-06 just a quick stop for fuel and dinner. The folks at Monroe Air Center were very helpful. We used the courtesy car and at their suggestion had dinner at the Cypress Inn. The restaurant sits right on the Bayou, catfish, oysters and shrimp were DeeLish! pt/N732TY
