The Rice Palace - Crowley, LA
The Rice Palace is in Crowley, LA. The closest airport is Le Gros Memorial (3R2) in Estherwood which is approximately 7 miles from the restaurant. The FBO (AJ Aviation) will provide transport to the restaurant. For those wishing to RON, there are several good motels adjacent the restaurant. The restaurant also contains a casino for those so inclined. The Rice Palace is famous for its cajun cuisine in that it is located in the heart of Acadiana. The menu is extensive, but try the chicken/sausage/crawfish gumbo - its hard to beat! Be sure to order a helping of corn nuggets, a house specialty. There is a large variety of home-baked pies in the dessert cooler.rices are moderateand service is attentive. Dress is casual.

Fallingwater - Connellsville, PA
Frank Lloyd Wright's famous mountain home that he designed for the Kaufmann family (of department store fame.) As a home designer and builder as well as a pilot, this 1-1/2 flight in a C-172 from Ashland, Ohio was exciting. I had wanted to visit Fallingwater for a long time and was not disappointed. The tours are very well conducted. Visit their website for details.Fayett County Aviation at VVS has a friendly staff and a courtesy van (They give no false impressions of the appearance or reliability of the van) The van wasn't available the day I was finally able to go so one of the people there lent me their personal vehicle asking only that I put gas in it. (Did I say they were friendly?!) Fallingwater is about a 20 minute drive from the airport. There are also an Enterprize and a Country motors nearby both of which will bring a rental car to the airport. We stopped for lunch at a bar and grill
place along US RT 40/119 (No beer for me of course!) called The Braddock Inn. Good food.

Ocracoke Island - Ocracoke, NC
Small airstrip near the historic village of Ocracoke. Everything in the village is within easy walking distance of the airport. Just turn left onto Hwy 12 after leaving the airport and walk. The first place you will come to is Howards Pub, which is a favorite stopping point. Plan an overnight stay in order to sample some of the beers they have. Bikes can also be rented to explore the island if so desired. Beyond Howards Pub there are many other very good restaurants, B&B's, Hotels and cottages to rent.

Moontown Airport - Huntsville, AL
2185 X 160 grass strip with tower in place for great pancake breakfasts on the 3rd Saturday of every month- huge turnout of RV's, warbirds, Cubs and 152's, Bo's and kitbuilts- tripacers, and just about anything- saw a SeaB there last time. Nifty flight school, and 100LL on site at $3.40 last month. 9/27, right traffic 27. Pretty country, and nice people. Lots of EAA types. Interesting to stroll along the parked planes.

Grans Geneva HOTEL - Lake Geneva , WI
This is a excellent place to have "Breakfast", and "Lunch" at. We flew in to meet some friends staying there, and had breakfast there. YES, FLY there, LAND there, and you can walk or PICK-UP-THE-PHONE, and the Hotel sends a TROLEY to pick you up. It is about a 3 minute ride, or 8 minute walk. Don't let the web site shy you away. The BUFFET is about $15.00 for all you can eat, and we did. We don't play golf, but should. Other pilots told us about this plae for a couple of years, and we finally flew in on 10-13-07, and now have another place to fly-eat. The ramp is big.

Cedar Point, Sandusky Ohio. SKY - Sandusky, OH
There are several good destinations to fly for here at Sandusky. This airport provides in it's parking fee a shuttle van to and from the amusement park, call them and ask about thier other attractions they service. The flight over lower lake Eri is awesome and to land 270 is a thrill as you come in over a large bay and land dirrectly after the shoreline!!!! Its cool! and remember Niagra is close too.
