Haverfield has established the most comprehensive aerial service offering in the transmission industry with the largest civilian fleet including 22 MD 500 helicopters, 1 Blackhawk and one Huey.
Haverfield is seeking a skilled and dedicated Chief Pilot to oversee the operations, safety and training of Haverfield flight crews.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Comply with FAA Regulations, Company Operations Manual(s) and any state, municipal and any domestic or foreign government regulations that may apply
  • Responsible for maintaining all pilot flight records IAW with FAA and Company policies
  • Responsible for updating the corporate manual and the Flight manual
  • Responsible for all Pilot scheduling to meet customer project requirements, vacations, break days, and short notice Pilot requirements.
  • Act as a champion of the company positive safety culture and participate as a member of the Haverfield Safety Committee
  • Operate aircraft in a safe and efficient manner, with emphasis on compliance with the appropriate Rotorcraft Flight Manual
  • Work with customers to provide professional, courteous, efficient, reliable and safe service
  • Work with the Sales and Operations department to review project proposals for aircraft feasibility and safety
  • Submit all appropriate paperwork in a neat and timely manner
  • Accept duty only when in compliance with flight and duty time regulations and maintain a rested and medically fit condition
  • Maintain a logbook or other reliable record in accordance with FAR to show recent flight experience requirements
  • Complete Haverfield #8220;Flight Hour Summary#8221; and update resume annually.
  • Complete ongoing pilot training as needed for Chief Pilot position
  • Responsible for keeping all certificates current: Pilot, Certified Flight Instructor (If applicable), Ratings, Etc.Responsible for safe, proper and legal conduct of the assigned flight. (Example: Loads may have to be reduced, landing area must be safe)
  • Understand that personnel working around the aircraft must be properly briefed or if flights may have to be delayed due to weather or other reasons
  • Responsible for the overall safety of passengers, crew, and lineman working from aircraft.
  • Accept responsibility for checking aircraft, preflight, post flight and briefing of all crew members daily
  • Responsible for timely and efficient communication with the maintenance department for aircraft needs to minimize down time and loss of production.
  • Responsible to advise project Foreman weather delays, forecasts, lineman safety issues
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 1000 flight hours of Vertical-Reference/Longline time
  • 500 flight hours of Human External Cargo (HEC) time
  • Candidate must possess a Commercial Pilot certificate
  • At least 3 years' experience in Part 133 external load operations with a utility line company
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain FAA Part 133 external load certificate and FAA Part 135 certificate
  • Proficient in MD500 series helicopters
  • Proficient in performing class A, B, and C category external load operations
  • Interact with the local FSDO in a positive and productive manner
  • Perform flight duties as required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous Chief Pilot, Assistant Chief Pilot or Supervisor experience
  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor
