The Boeing Global Services Digital Solutions Analytics Lab Frankfurt is looking for a Senior User Experience (UX) Researcher (m/f/d), reporting to the Customer Experience Manager supporting branches in Europe (Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Gothenburg) and India (Bangalore). The Senior UX Researcher will be supporting one of our integrated project teams (IPT) providing integrated, intelligent solutions to our customers throughout the entire aviation industry. While the main work is based in Frankfurt, parts of the team are located in the United States and India.
You will also be part of the larger Boeing Global Services (BGS) Customer Experience (CX) organization of over 100 researchers, product designers, and data analysts where you will benefit from, and contribute to, our DesignOps initiatives, such as our design system, training program, ResearchOps, and tools working groups. You will report to a UX manager with over 20 years of experience in the design industry who cares deeply about mentorship and career development.
The Senior UX Researcher will identify user and customer needs and turn them into products and experiences that empower our customers’ businesses. Within the IPT, the Senior UX Researcher will interface with product management and represent the UX team in PI/sprint planning, architecture reviews, and other meetings. Other tasks include working directly with users, stakeholders, and customers during all phases of the project, developing strategies and specifications to create/improve the performance, usability, and effectiveness of native mobile and/or web-based software applications. This includes planning and execution of co-creation workshops with other in- and external projects. Being an expert researcher, you take a leading role in the European and Global UX team helping to train and mentor other team members in the fields of user research and workshop facilitation.
In alignment with our Design Thinking process, responsibilities include:
Empathize: Lead the planning and execution of research activities, coordinating with product management, marketing, customers, and other stakeholders and administer the research repository.
Define: Lead the analysis and synthesis of research data, directing the creation of journey maps, scenarios, service blueprints, and other documentation, or supervise research on multiple projects.
Ideate: Coordinate with product designers to ensure that researchers are supporting and contributing to the design of solutions.
Prototype: Coordinate with product designers to ensure that researchers are supporting and contributing to prototyping efforts.
Test: Lead the planning and execution of usability testing and coordinate it with product management, marketing, customers, and other stakeholders.
Implement: Participate in product reviews to ensure that the implementation will meet the needs of the users.
Measure: Collaborate with data analysts to plan surveys and determine the correct metrics to track.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
5 or more years of relevant design research experience (UX Researcher, UX Designer, and/or Human Factors Engineer) and have an affinity for Qualitative Research, Quantitative Research, Analysis Synthesis, Presentation, Facilitation, and Writing. Communication skills and team player qualities are equally important.
Longstanding experience in planning, conducting, and communicating qualitative and quantitative user research, usability studies, and setting up success metrics.
Proven track record of working with human-centered-design methodologies on high-quality, digital products.
Driven by curiosity and eager to work in one of the most exciting industries on the planet.
Ability to discuss eye-to-eye with stakeholders like Engineering Managers, Product Owners, etc.
Team player and self-starter who can organize activities and deeply collaborate with other designers and subject matter experts.
Ability to contribute meaningful approaches for how to collaboratively run UX research in agile teams.
Capability to creatively synthesize insights, build intuitively understandable insight formats, and drive decision making.
Ability to facilitate collaborative workshops with team members and stakeholders.
Understanding of design process, design methods, design principles, and a solid intuition.
Strong written and verbal communications skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Understanding of aviation and/or aviation technology would be highly desirable.
Experience with agile methods (e.g., SAFe).
Strong written and verbal communication skills in German.
Bachelors Degree in Human Factors Engineering, Psychology, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience Design, Industrial Design, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
