Helicopter Pilot

Reporting to: Chief Pilot

Indirect Supervisor: At times when the Chief Pilot is not available, Pilots shall be responsible to the Director of Flight Operations as their indirect supervisor.

Position Status: Individual Contributor – Specialist

Pilots operate the flying controls, monitor aircraft systems and instruments, and, when applicable, instruct and supervise other crew members. They are responsible for ensuring the safety of all passengers, crew, and cargo, and for maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and compliance with regulatory and company requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and control aircraft safely and efficiently during all phases of flight, including takeoff, en route operations, and landing.
  • Monitor engine performance, fuel consumption, and all aircraft systems to ensure optimal and safe operation.
  • Evaluate and respond appropriately to changing flight conditions, such as weather variations and in-flight emergencies.
  • Prepare, file, and execute flight plans in compliance with Transport Canada regulations and company procedures.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough pre-flight and post-flight inspections to verify aircraft readiness and airworthiness.
  • Plan flight routes, review weather data, and assist with the loading and securing of passengers, baggage, and cargo as required.
  • Maintain accurate and complete flight logs, operational records, and reports in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Reporting Requirements:
  • Complete and submit Flight Ticket Reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Report any aircraft discrepancies, maintenance issues, or operational concerns to the Maintenance and Operations teams.
  • Identify and communicate any concerns related to load, equipment, or crew performance to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with company policies and within the Safety Management System (SMS), reporting safety-related issues promptly.

Educational Requirements:

  • None

Experience Requirements:

  • Previous commercial flight experience preferred but not required for entry-level positions.
  • Experience in aerial operations, remote site flying, or specialized aviation services considered an asset.

Certificates & Licensing Requirements:

  • Transport Canada Commercial Pilots License – Helicopter
  • Valid Category 1 Medical Certificate
