Description:

We are seeking a Logistics Supervisor for our AHTS contract at NAS Whiting Field, Milton, FL. The successful candidate will be responsible to the Logistics Manager for technical, professional and administrative duties to ensure the successful execution of the Logistics and Supportability Analysis Program, contract compliance and reporting as defined in Naval Aviation Maintenance Program Standard Operating Procedures, Federal Acquisition Regulations, applicable ISO, and Navy Instructions.

Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities:



  • Demonstrate the necessary leadership and management skills to support the Logistics Manager in complying with the government contract (PWS), NAMP program, LSA Program, Property Management Plan, and company policies and procedures to ensure safe and expeditious support of the Navys Flight Training Program.
  • Must possess a sound understanding of Naval Aviation Supply and Aviation Maintenance procedures and understand how the two disciplines work together to accomplish the mission. Have the ability to interpret Maintenance publications and relate how they affect Supply operations in order to provide sound guidance to the Logistics Manager.
  • Responsible to the Logistics Manager in performing those duties assigned.
  • Responsible for data integrity, management and reporting utilizing the companys Logistics Management Information System (LMIS). Ensure that all contractually required logistics reports are submitted on-time and accurate.
  • Oversees the coordination of all order/requisition actions pertaining to commercial and Government furnished material as to need/authenticity.
  • Ensures availability and timely delivery of parts/materials to adequately support the Flight Hour Program by continually monitoring utilization data, forecasting/trending tools, and requesting adjustment authorization for stock level adjustments.
  • Monitors material funding CLINs, forecasts funding usage, and requests additional funding as needed through the Site Business Manager.
  • Produces and obtains government approval of a Property Management Plan IAW Far Part 45, Part 52.245-1 and the government contract. Ensures that the plan is consistently followed. Participates in government and company audits to verify compliance and develop solutions for identified shortfalls or corrective action requests to prevent recurrence.
  • Plans, schedules and conducts initial, annual and transition-out inventories of all government and company owned property and parts. Ensures 100 inventory accuracy of special test equipment, IMRL items, Government Property, and Tools.
  • Ensures all demand requisitions in OOMA have valid supply status within 3 days after submission with estimated shipping dates and DoD supply status codes.
  • Ensures zero invalid records on the Due-In From Maintenance Report
  • Validates NMCS/PMCS on a daily basis and produces daily NMCS/PMCS CDRL/report by the required time each work day.
  • Ensures that NMCS/PMCS performance metrics are Outstanding/Good and provides detailed rationale for failure to achieve. Ensure that any other contractually required supply metrics are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Confirms product quality and conformance to FAA and/or military specifications. Ensures that certificates of conformity (or FAA 8130-3 forms) are uploaded into the LMIS and maintained.
  • Initiates disposal and turn-in actions of Government Property using DCMA Plant Clearance Automated Reutilization Screening System (PCARSS) and IAW FAR 52.245.1 and DFARS 252.245-7004.
  • Ensure compliance with the government contract (PWS), NAMP program, company, maintenance instructions, and company policies and procedures to ensure safe and expeditious support of the Navys Flight Training Program.
  • Teams with the Logistics Manager, Maintenance Manager and Logs and Records Manager to perform analysis, work load planning, and material forecasts to ensure customer service and company goals are met. This includes estimating/tracking personnel requirements for a multi-shift operation as well as scheduling and coordinating overtime requirements.
  • Evaluate existing methods, systems and potential improvements for compliance with maintenance requirements and to ensure cost effectiveness, productivity and personnel safety.
  • Submit to the Logistics Manager any recommendations for manpower, materials, facilities and capital equipment.
  • Teams with the Logistics and Quality Managers to analyze maintenance data to identify trends and deficiencies related to parts and material or conformance to standards.
  • Will keep the Logistics Manager apprised on the status of work in progress and coordinate with other work centers and departments as required to accomplish tasks.
  • May be required to handle hazardous materials in performance of assigned duties.
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with and ensure enforcement of established General and Industrial Safety Rules and Regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities and job assignment.
  • Assist with the interview, selection and training of new employees.
  • Instruct assigned employees on proper methods and procedures as required.
  • Counsel and/or discipline employees verbally or in writing as needed to enforce Company policies, directives and CBA requirements following progressive disciplinary procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve employees complaints. Be thoroughly familiar with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA); may resolve Step 1 grievances in accordance with the CBA.
  • Must have an extensive working knowledge of COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series, OPNAV 3750 series, applicable ISO, Federal Aviation Regulations, and Navy Instructions.
  • Must be able to utilize card files and common office equipment.
  • Must be able to effectively interface with Government Representatives. Must be customer oriented.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with all requirements contained in the government contract, government instructions, manuals and procedures.
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with and ensure enforcement of Company policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to and enforce all Company and Government regulations to ensure personnel safety and the security and preservation of Government and Company-owned equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with required Quality Control policies and inspections.
  • Responsible for adherence to and enforcement of the Tool Control Program.
  • Responsible for adherence to and enforcement of the FOD Prevention Program.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the work center.
  • Ensure that work is properly documented in government and company electronic and/or manual Information Systems
  • Assist in ensuring the safety, security, inventory and preservation of Government owned and Company owned equipment.
  • Perform all other position related duties as well as other projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Maintains the highest ethical, personal and professional standards
  • As a government contractor, Vertex Aerospace requires all employees to be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment in accordance with Executive Order 14042. Requirements:

Position Scope and Charter



  • Must have a minimum of six (6) years documented experience in aviation logistics, three (3) years of which must have been in a supervisory or management position. Rotary wing aviation maintenance preferred.
  • Extensive working knowledge of Government Property Control/ Procurement procedures (US Naval Supply System preferred).
  • Experience with OOMA/NALCOMIS and SAP software preferred.
  • Must have the leadership and management skills to direct assigned personnel to comply with established policies and procedures to support the Navy's Flight Training Program.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a public trust position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Must meet any other qualification standards imposed by the government contract not covered by this agreement.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint to generate, compile, analyze and evaluate facts and data using statistical and research methodologies
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have ability to develop professional relationships with management, peers, vendors, subcontractors, and customers
  • Must be able to work weekends, other shifts, and unpaid overtime as required.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and Company proprietary data.
  • Must adhere to Company policies/procedures and management instruction.
  • Some travel may be required.
Physical Requirements

  • Primarily office environment. Must have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • At times, must be able to work in aircraft hangar environment and board / exit aircraft. At times, must be able to climb, bend, kneel, crouch, balance, and stoop. Must be able to walk particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another. Must be able to work primarily with fingers such as typing. Must be able to work at heights, subject to noise, subject to a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, work on scaffolding, exposure to heat/cold.
