Program Manager - Hialeah, Florida

General Accountability

Reports Directly To: Sector Vice President, Accessories

Reports Functionally To: Director of Repair Strategy, CHA Sector

Responsible for all aspects of product development programs, including pricing, costing, and work scoping analysis, interfacing with suppliers including OEMís and ensuring development to schedule. Contributes as a key member of the Accessories Leadership Team to drive growth of the group.

Direct Reports: None. However, will be able to draw on a certain amount of support from operations personnel, including Operations Managers, Quality Control Managers, Supply Chain, Financial Controllers, Sales and Customer Service.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Lead and support New Product Introduction activities
  • Planning, development and performance of specific product development programs and projects within the Accessories group
  • Create development timelines using Gantt Charts and/or other tools. Identify required tasks, track and drive the development through to completion.
  • Provide and create technical and financial data for preparation of cost benefit analysis. Create Business Cases, analyzing price, cost, and work scopes to ensure acceptable levels of profitability as well as determining the structure of offerings for the Sales Team to present to customers. Evaluates labor, equipment, manpower, inventory needs and other programs to maximize opportunities.
  • Interface and negotiate with suppliers for contract services and spare parts, including OEMs, as they relate to the identified programs
  • Serve as the program/product expert pulling in operational, quality, supply chain, and financial resources as needed; a leader that pulls in help from others, but reaches completion individually, not exclusively through management of others
  • Maintain appropriate communications within and between various functional individuals. Promotes a spirit of cooperation within the assigned area of responsibility as well as other business units that may be involved.
  • Work closely with the Sectorís Director of Repair Strategy regarding pipeline development and in-sourcing programs that involve other StandardAero businesses
  • Provide insight to corporate and site leadership on areas that need attention for improvement (cost reduction, efficiency, etc)
  • Produce periodic reports to communicate the status of projects
  • Carry out special projects as assigned. These projects could include leading continuous improvement and kaizen activities, running capacity planning analysis, and supporting acquisitions and consolidations


Technical Requirements

  • Strong project management, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, and oral/written communication skills
  • Strong engineering and technical understanding. Able to read and understand Component Maintenance Manuals and other technical documentation to effectively communicate with technicians.
  • Ability to analyze products and processes and synthesize that input into robust solutions to improve cost and efficiency
  • Ability to liaise between corporate, sector, and site level individuals
  • Able to read and understand contracts, particularly with suppliers, to effectively communicate and negotiate with them
  • Able to mine data, analyze and create simple financial models for Business Cases
  • Bachelorís degree in engineering or an analytical field of business administration
  • Several years of experience in aerospace MRO or a related field
  • Working knowledge of PCís and Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Location Travel

Position will work from Ft Myers, FL or Hialeah, FL sites. Frequent travel, driving day trips, between sites is likely. Infrequent air travel to other group sites in the US and UK, as well as supplier OEMís is possible.

Background Information

The typical minimum level of education to perform this job competently is equivalent to completion of a university (bachelor) program in a specialized field of study and work. The work requires a sound understanding of the underlying theoretical principles and concepts associated with the subject area and an understanding of the relation of these to the responsibilities of the job. This specialized training is often recognized by a degree and/or professional designation.

Directly/indirectly related work experience representing continuous learning and required for someone to perform this job competently is five to ten years.

Ongoing work assignments typically have clearly defined goals, but minimal direction with respect to specific action steps to follow. The incumbent's education, training, and previous experience will help ensure that the goal of the assignment can be clearly defined and understood (even if that means just knowing what relevant questions to ask), but the required/optional approaches to achieving the goal will often remain unclear, undefined and/or untested until the work assignment is well underway.
