Position SummaryReporting to the 703/704 Chief Pilot, Perimeter Medevac Pilots transport thousands of passengers each year. Whether a First Officer or a Captain, your number one priority is to conduct each flight safely, taking into consideration on-time performance and the comfort of each passenger. The industry regulations change continually and pilots must keep current on all literature. Further, pilots are expected to achieve an intimate mechanical knowledge of the aircraft they fly. All pilots are Transport Canada approved individuals who have met and exceeded the qualification standards for their position.The Medevac Pilots work closely with the other members of the crew and flight followers. They must be in constant communication to ensure that Medevac transfers are performed efficiently and effectively.Personal CharacteristicsMust be fluent in EnglishHighly flexible, with the ability to respond quickly in a dynamic environmentProfessional and respectful, with a positive work attitudeTimely with a high level of commitment to on-time performance is essentialMotivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a teamEffective verbal and written communication skillsAble to build and maintain lasting relationships with all departments, business partners and customersSuperior time management skills, multitasking skills and the ability to prioritize tasksHigh level of integrity, confidentiality and accountabilityAble to handle stressful situations in a calm and effective mannerCustomer Service-oriented with a commitment to exceptional serviceStrong problem solving and analytical skillsHigh level of respect, understanding and regard for First Nations communitiesKey Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesConduct flights with strict adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures, Canadian Aviation Regulations, Aircraft Flight Manual, and the Company Operations ManualAssist the PIC in the management and operation of the flight, including participation in the execution of all cockpit proceduresFuel the aircraftProvide a thorough pre-flight aircraft inspection on behalf of the CaptainLift, load and secure patients, cargo, baggage and freightAssist medical crew – when required and appropriateBrief passengers in accordance with the requirements outlined in the Standard Operation ProceduresComplete post-flight aircraft inspectionsFocus on flying skills and knowledge improvement with the intention of one day being ready to assume a Captain positionActively participate in the Company’s Safety Management SystemContinue to meet and exceed the Transport Canada Qualification standards for a PilotPerform additional duties as assignedMinimum Education, Experience and CertificationsHigh school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalentCommercial Pilot LicenseCategory 1 MedicalCurrent Group 1 Instrument Rating500 hours total timeCanadian citizenship or ability to work in Canada unrestrictedPilots must be fluent in English and be able to demonstrate effective verbal and listening comprehensionMust be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizationsChild Abuse Registry and Criminal Record check requiredThorough knowledge of aviation regulations requiredIndigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an assetValid Passport requiredValid Driver License requiredWorking ConditionsPhysically able to perform all listed job dutiesTravel by aircraft and other means as required by roleWork performed both indoors and outdoors; employee must be able to adapt to all outdoor weather conditionsMust be able to work a flexible schedule and be able to travel for extended periodsAbility to lift, load and secure patients, cargo, baggage and freightWhen on scheduled shift, accommodation arranged in residence at remote base you are assigned to.
