Description:

The Sr. Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing the modification and Maintenance, Repair Overhaul (MRO) operations of military and commercial aircraft. This role involves managing a team of A P mechanics, technicians, and production staff to ensure that our processes are efficient, cost-effective, and maintain the highest standards of quality and safety.

SNC’s ISR, Aviation Security (IAS) Business area is a multi-site operation with substantial content in various states – including Warehousing, Material Management / Transportation, Production, Platform Modification, and Maintenance in multiple states. In addition to managing the core Operations footprint, this team also supports and maintains alignment with a global Logistics Support team for various systems. The perfect candidate for this role will have strong operations experience with a proven track record for developing and executing a comprehensive vision while working and influencing cross functionally.

The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to meet business goals and objectives, using data-driven KPIs to drive operational excellence
  • Streamline data access on the shop floor with digital tools
  • Manage production schedules and iron flow for efficient modification, maintenance, and repair
  • Create new processes to enhance productivity and quality, while ensuring compliance with all regulations and safety protocols
  • Optimize cost-effectiveness of production and MRO operation
  • Maintain relationships with stakeholders for smooth MRO operations and customer satisfaction, while prioritizing safety and developing people to enable scalability

Key Competencies Skills:

  • Technical knowledge in military aircraft systems and aerospace materials, with excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with various stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving abilities for complex issues under tight deadlines, with strategic thinking skills to improve efficiency and productivity in MRO operations
  • Ability to navigate change make defensible decisions in ambiguity, and own those decisions, with project management expertise for complex projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory compliance standards in aerospace industry, with commitment to continuous improvement for optimized processes and increased efficiency

Must Haves:

  • Bachelors Degree in Aviation, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field of study
  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education
  • Minimum 10 years leadership experience in military aircraft MRO, with extensive technical experience in military aircraft maintenance and repair
  • Experience with managing complex MRO projects with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), subcontractors, and maintenance crews, with a proven track record leading technical teams and overseeing MRO operations for military aircraft
  • Familiarity with military regulations and requirements related to MRO, with understanding of reliability-centered maintenance principles and experience in implementing preventative maintenance programs
  • Knowledge of software systems used in MRO operations, such as CMMS and aircraft health monitoring systems
  • Experience leading and coordinating large, multi-location operations
  • Advanced knowledge of production/manufacturing principles, techniques, and warehousing best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret complex technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications
  • Excellent customer-facing experience
  • Proven leadership abilities inclusive of successful change management, mentoring, career development, training, succession planning, holding people accountable, and conducting yearly reviews
  • Proven experience and skills in team building, time management, conflict resolution, communication, briefing, presentation, and strategic thinking
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly express concepts in verbal and written forms

Preferred:

  • Masters degree preferred
  • Typically 12-15 years of relevant experience in one or more Operations functions; 1043; years managerial experience
  • Ability to navigate change and uncertainty, make defensible decisions in ambiguity and own those decisions
  • Mastery to drive innovative thinking, lead and inspire teams, instill collaboration, challenge status quo, manage complex situations, delegate authority,  and demonstrate ability to adapt to dynamic situations
  • Skills in assessing external competition by gathering data from multiple, often disparate, qualitative and quantitative sources and synthesizing it into meaningful reports and presentations
  • Possess leadership acumen to perform as a true strategic partner to top company executives; ability to establish presence and demeanor to interface and work collaboratively with leaders and skill to make significant contributions on key leadership committees
  • Demonstrated passion for ideation, intellectual curiosity, and innovation, as well as motivating others to act by creating a shared sense of vision or purpose
  • Proven long-term and strategic perspective that extends beyond the immediate initiatives; visualizes and articulates a clear direction
  • Team oriented with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense (Civilian), NASA/Civil or commercial space and/or US Military, with an understanding of defense, aerospace, intelligence, and adjacent markets
