Position description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Global Category Manager – IT Services to join a team with our client in Indianapolis. This role requires a strategic thinker and independent contributor who can quickly take ownership of the IT category, drive supplier performance, and lead complex negotiations.
The successful candidate will bring strong cross-functional leadership, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to manage sourcing strategies in dynamic environments such as aerospace, IT, or automotive.
Top priority skills:
Bachelor’s degree (Business, Supply Chain Management ideal) minimum with 7 years of experience
Ability to manage the category independently and take charge.
Quick learner with experience as a Buyer or Category Manager.
Experience in aerospace, IT, or automotive is beneficial.
Strong social skills with a focus on cross-functional leadership and teamwork.
Responsibilities:
Effective management of supplier relationships and strategic direction of partners and suppliers, which includes being accountable for managing issues that require escalation, conflict resolution, driving and improving in-contract supplier performance, and reporting out on KPIs to procurement.
Lead complex negotiations through planning, performing cost analysis, drafting of contracts and creating business cases to maximize the value proposition across all major categories.
Responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining relevant integrated commodity/category supplier strategies that have a clear vision and a strategic framework for the designated commodity which requires understanding of the commodity landscape, associated risks, and ability to conduct long term planning.
Manage the identification, assessment, and mitigation of commercial risks within the supply chain to ensure continuity and resilience.
Manage and lead a team of buyer(s) to excel in their strategic tasks by fostering skill development and achieving superior outcomes for the business.
Basic requirements:
Associate’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related discipline with 7 years of experience, OR
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related discipline with 5 years of experience, OR
Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related discipline with 3 years of experience, OR
JD/PhD, OR
9 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.
