HSE Manager (Health, Safety & Environment)
The HSE Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and a strong safety culture across all operations. This role provides leadership, guidance, and oversight to protect employees, contractors, customers, and the environment while supporting operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and management systems
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local HSE regulations
- Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations; implement corrective actions
- Track, analyze, and report safety performance metrics and trends
- Lead emergency response planning and drills
- Deliver HSE training programs and safety briefings
- Promote a proactive, reporting-driven safety culture
- Interface with regulatory agencies, customers, and internal leadership
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across operations
- Update EMR tracking
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management within an aviation or aerospace operational environment
- Demonstrated expertise in the application, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Safety Management Systems (SMS)
- Strong working knowledge of occupational safety and health regulations, aviation safety and risk management principles, and environmental compliance requirements
- Proven experience managing dangerous goods / hazardous materials (HazMat) programs in accordance with aviation regulations
- Familiarity with aviation security programs and regulatory compliance frameworks
- Experience leading and documenting incident, event, and accident investigations, including root-cause analysis and corrective action development
- Ability to interface professionally with regulatory agencies, auditors, and customers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, defensible documentation and reports
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic operational environment
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a small, collaborative management team
