11/11/2014 - I sponsored a small fly-in at KSLR over a weekend with four planes in attendance. The staff at the airport treated us like we'd been their best friends for years, and bent over backwards to give us any kind of assistance that we could think of. They made sure that the grass strip was manicured prior to our arrival, came out to us to gather our coolers so they could fill them with ice, coordinated with the CAP folks to allow us to use their building during our event...they connected us with some young folks that were interested in flying, that we took out on flights and answered questions for them. The only thing better would be to have had a larger turnout from the people in my group, the airport was the ticket. We will definitely be re-visiting KSLR, they're great folks. - Submitted by Paul D
9/21/2009 - KSLR is home to American Legend Aircraft Company. The Legend Cub and Texas Sport kit are manufactured by experienced, skilled hands in Sulphur Springs, Texas. The Legend Cub is the most popular American-manufactured light-sport aircraft. The design of the Legend Cub is based on the Piper J-3 and PA-11 with Super Cub performance. - Submitted by Mike Taylor
10/20/2007 - Red Barn Cafe is across the highway from the FBO, about ¼ mile. Address 1310 Hillcrest. M-Th 7am-2pm; F-Sa 7am-9pm; Su 8am-2pm. Nice food selection, good food, good prices, a little slow on the service. Advisory: The Restaurant allows smoking, except for Sundays from 12 noon-2pm. Overall, a great stop!
