Canton Plymouth Metettal Airport - Canton, MI

If you look for a place to fly to have some good time, Canton Plymouth Metettal airport 1D2 is one of the best places in Michigan to come. The nice airport is surrounded with things that flyers are looking for at the end of their pleasure flights. You are looking for some decent places for food? The Coney Island is on the west side of the airport, just across from the airport entrance. The Three Brother's Restaurant which is well known for its Polish food is just north of the airport almost at the end of the Runway 36. Like to see some flowers and plants for relaxing? Walk to the two green houses just north of the strip mall where the Coney Island restaurant located. A couple pots of plants or flowers will add some nice fragrant in your airplane on the flight home. Plymouth downtown is a small, conservative but very nice place to visit. It.is just a few blocks north west from the airport. Unless you bring a bike with you, Enterprise Rent A Car will pick you up and rent you a car. It usually has very low car rental during the weekend, about $20-$30 during the weekend. Call them first to make sure if they are open. I live in Canton which is next to Plymouth but I love to come to Plymouth downtown during weekends. I love coffee at the Starbuck, or lunch at Panera, sit at the Kellogg park, or visit the library nearby. If you are a tea drinker, you must visit the famous Sweet Afton Tea Room. All of them are in the small downtown area. Just just a couple blocks south of the airport is the Canton Township. Canton also has many nice shopping stores, restaurant and the famous Ikea is in this town. This message is too long now, so you will have to find out more about Canton by yourself. As a long time pilot I am sad to see many fun places to fly to gradually disappear. I feel dumb to land at an airport just to have a cup of coffee at the restaurant on the airport, and fly home! So Metettal airport is one of the few places that you still can land for some variety of food, enjoy a walk and some other activities. Happy landing. - Submitted by Ttran

Capri Drive-in Theater - Coldwater, MI

Capri Drive-In Theater is a cool old outdoor movie theater right next to the airport that you can taxi up to within a 5 minute walk. I flew in for the movie and camped overnight and had breakfast at the Prop Blast Cafe there on the grounds. Messenger Lake is across the road part of the famous Chain of Lakes and offers dockside float plane fuel. There's also a courtesy car at the FBO's hangar to get to nearby hotels and cabins. - Submitted by Michael
