Centerville/Hickman County is a beautiful area with it's rolling hills and many rivers and creeks. It has a rich history in music from Grand Ole Opry fiddlers such as Paul Warren and Howdie Forrester to the great Miss Minnie Pearl herself. The Chamber includes a small musuem as well as the Grinder's Switch Radio Show airing live each Sat. morning. There's a music jam session every Fri nite at the Fair Grounds that's open to all plus live music on the Square every other Sat night thru the summer. Centerville is Home to the National Banana Puddin' Fest the first Sat. of Oct every year. There is also a huge car show, quilt show and art show the same day. From some of the best cooking to some of the best wine in the country Centerville/Hickman County has much to offer. From songwriters to musicians to Award winning Cowboy Poets you can go wrong stopping in Centerville. Hassel Field Clifton (M29), Ross Creek Landing Golf Course is a beautiful course to play. Only a couple of hundred feet from the airport. Call ahead give them your arrival time and the Golf Carts will be waiting for you on the ramp. This was rated the #1 golf course in the state of TN. They have a nice resturant. If you like the water, the Tennessee River is not far. Call ahead to the Marina and they will come and get you and have a boat rental ready. If you want to stay the night the Bear Inn will come and get you. There is no fee for leaving your plane overnight. Lafayette Municipal Airport (3M7), Macon County Tennessee is one of the most beautiful places to fly that you will ever see. From gently rolling farmland, to quaint historic towns. Red Boiling Springs boasts historic hotels with natural spring water spa services. Check out the Armour Hotel, the Donoho Hotel, and The Thomas House. There are antique shops, covered bridges, and dinner theatres. In Lafayette, tourists can eat some of the finest food and enjoy great music at Gibson's Cafe. There is a winery, a dude ranch nearby, a golf course, and a drive in theater. Whatever you are looking to do, you can find it in lovely Macon County Tennessee! The airport in Lafayette has a top notch 5,200 foot runway, courtesy car for customers, great fuel prices, and hangar storage. Lovell Field Airport (CHA), The Lookout Mountain Incline Railway is an inclined plane railway located along the side of Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Passengers are transported from St. Elmo's Station at the base, to Point Park at the mountain summit, which overlooks the city and the Tennessee River. The railway is approximately one mile 1.6 km in length single track except for a short two-track stretch at the midway point, allowing operation of two cars at one time, and has a maximum grade of 72.7. It is billed as one of the world's steepest passenger railways. The inclined railway is just part of the area attractions. We got courtesy car and also visited Rock City. Rock City features a long, convoluted rock trail lined with gardens. These gardens contain hundreds of labeled local trees and plants. The trail also leads through a variety of bizarre rock formations, including the 1000-ton Balanced Rock and the Fat Man's Squeeze. Two other sections, the Fairyland Caverns and father Goose Village, are rock caves decorated with blacklight-responsive sculptures. This is a daddy daughter dream day. I plan on going back soon to see Ruby falls. Ruby Falls is a 145-foot high underground waterfall located within Lookout Mountain. - Submitted by Larry Carvagno |

Big city convenience with the small town life. I like this airport as everyone is so friendly and will help you with whatever you need and give you a nice crew car if you want to do anything. Just a few miles away is the Tennessee Superspeedway and a big antique district, as well as a nice affordable Hampton Inn Suites just a block away from the airfield. Lots of restaurants within walking distance and just 15-20 minutes from the honky tonks in Downtown Nashville. Even when we just go to Nashville we fly in here so we can avoid the class C airspace and time taxiing and on the ramp.

Monroe County Airport (MNV), The Lost Sea is located about 4 miles from the airport. Airport is 'friendly', Courtesy car is available and aircraft fuel prices are reasonable. The Lost Sea is the largest underground lake in the US. A walk down through interesting caverns ends in a glass bottom boat-ride. There are abundant 18 inch trout.
