Akron-Canton Regional Airport (CAK), The next time you are in the Akron/Canton area, stop by the 356th Fighter Group Restaurant for a unique dining experience. Bob and Tina Scofield have the 'right stuff' when it comes to fine dining in a comfortable, yet upscale environment. - Submitted by newslinknet |

The 179th Airlift Wing is losing their C-130's thanks to those brilliant individuals on the Base Realignment and Closure Commission. These guys have been flying the Herk since 1976 and are a great bunch of guys. You can still see them in action, flying around Mansfield, and also performing both personnel and cargo drops right on the airport. The drill weekends are the best to see the drops, but they usually fly the most on Tuesday Wednesdays and Thursdays. It's really cool when they do the dusk and night flying especially if you get to see them on the drop zone. The best place for viewing is at the Flyboys Restaurant. They have a great view, and also have a patio out front on their ramp. They are going to start losing their aircraft in September of 2009, so hurry in and see these great planes and great folks.

There are several good destinations to fly for here at Sandusky. This airport provides in it's parking fee a shuttle van to and from the amusement park, call them and ask about thier other attractions they service. The flight over lower lake Eri is awesome and to land 270 is a thrill as you come in over a large bay and land dirrectly after the shoreline!!!! Its cool! and remember Niagra is close too.

8-17-06 flew to Dayton for a family affair but managed to take a day to visit the Air Force Museum - allow more TIME!! Lots to see. Highly recommend the Pine Club in Dayton and the Golden Lamb in Lebanon for dinner, both are very, very good. Folks at the airport are very friendly and helpful. This airport is10 miles E of Dayton. A courtesy car is available but Enterprise can provide a rental. pt/N732TY

Local bar & grille, nothing fancy, entrance right off the ramp. Friendly service, good food, some interesting aviation art — the very model of the $100 hamburger restaurant! Open for lunch and dinner, but don't go on Sunday evening: they close Sundays at 2pm.
