Pik-N-Pig BBQ, Carthage, NC
GREAT Fly in / Drive in destination. Identifier changing to BQ1. 13/31 - 2500' paved with grass strip on left of 13. CTAF 122.9 unmonitored. Plenty of plane parking on grass. Great food and aviation atmosphere with large covered eating area outside and comfortable seating inside. Great view of runway and full size P40 mockup. A nice weekend day will see 15+ aircraft flying in. - Submitted by Dick Kruse

8/29/2010 - You can park on the grass and just walk across the taxiway to enjoy a tasty pulled pork sandwich. It was a busy Sunday, but I didn't have to wait long to be seated in the covered area outside and watch the glider tow squeezing inbetween the take-offs and departures.

10/29/2010 - Dropped in on a beautiful October day for some great barbecue. Runway in good shape approach to 31 is over some fairly tall trees. If you go, don't miss the banana pudding. Nice folks great place to visit.

9/15/2012 - Flew in to 5NC3 Gilliam Mc Connell: CTAF 122.9 to check out Pik-N-Pig. The staff are some of the most helpful people you will find. The BBQ was fabulous - well worth the flight. You will not be disappointed. After eating we took a stroll around the grounds to let lunch settle an snap some pictures. Then we grabbed a pound of brisket To-Go for the kids and an extra menu for the the FBO bulletin board. I am already planning the return trip.
