Gaston's White River Resort, Lakeview, AR
 |
If there's only one fly-away destination you make this year, Gaston's has got to be it. This is a great riverside resort. The main draw is trout fishing, but the setting, accomodations, and dining also make it a great place to visit. They have their own 3200' turf strip, and sell 100LL. You've just got to experience Gaston's! Plan a stop-over for lunch or dinner, or spend the night and fish. Check the website for more information and pictures. See you at Gaston's! 12/2/2002 - Very nice resort with very friendly people. The airport was very easy find and use. You are limited to just a few activities, fishing, hiking, eating, or just relaxing. We stayed a couple nights and had a great time and caught alot of fish but the resort itself is not cheap. Food and fishing guide service seemed to be alittle on the expensive side, but both were good.
3/20/2005 - We have been going to Gaston since 1968 or 69, when the runway was shorter and there were only just a few cottages. The restaurant then was only a small cafe with booths and red checkered tablecloths. It is truly a world class resort now with visitors from everywhere. I have seen king airs land there as well as other twins and all kinds of singles. Landings & takeoffs require full attention but are really a snap. If you have never flown into Gaston's you are missing a real treat. The wife and I love it, we go there often just for Sunday Brunch in their beautiful Restaurant that is extended out over the beautiful White River, I am almost 70 and still love the excitement of landing there. 7/19/2007 - My family flew down to Gastons for Dinner this past Saturday. The restaurant was top notch and the grounds were spotless. The approach was a little different for a flat lander but not a problem.
We will be returning for a weekend very soon.
5/26/2012 - Well worth the trip. Grass strip is fun to land on and scenery is beautiful and relaxing. River, hiking trails, restaurant and wild life preserve are all within a short walking distance. Gaston's offers a restaurant, pool/spa, and cottages on the river for over nighter's. Dog friendly!
