It boasts a low-wing cantilever monoplane structure made from composite materials. The fixed (non-retractable) tricycle landing gear includes a castering nose wheel, and steering is achieved via differential braking on the main wheels. Notably, the SR22 is the only production airplane in its class to feature side stick flight controls, combining aspects of a traditional yoke handle.
