What is an RSS?
RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication", and is a file format which has two purposes:
- To allow Internet users to subscribe to view web content that changes regularly.
- To allow organizations to syndicate web content that changes regularly, such as news items or announcements.
RSS is delivered in a XML format called an RSS feed. RSS feeds can contain summaries, full text and
metadata about any web content that is published. These RSS feeds can be viewed or subscribed to using
an RSS aggregator.
How do I find an RSS feed?
RSS feeds may be labeled by any one of the following icons on a web page.
Clicking on the icon will typically open the RSS feed, or provide a window with the URL of the RSS feed.
How do I read an RSS feed?
To read an RSS feed, you will need to use an RSS aggregator.
RSS Aggregators
RSS aggregators are used to subscribe to and view RSS feeds. Some aggregator software requires
installation on a desktop computer, while some aggregators are web browser-based. Some examples
