Also many unique stores in Independence as well as eating establishments. Beautiful Wapsipinicon River runs through town and along a local golf course with an Okoboji restraunt. The Knoxville Raceway is known as the Sprint Car Capital of the World. Wing sprint car races are offered every Saturday evening in the summer months. The Knoxville Municipal Airport is located just 2 miles south of the track. The FBO provides transportation to and from the track. Please try to support them with fuel purchases for offering this service. Several aircraft fly in for regular Saturday night events each week. Expect large numbers of fly in traffic during special World of Outlaw and Nationals events. This is a great "fun place to fly" in Iowa and is a great idea for a get a way with buddies, a date, or a family activity.
