11/17/2009 - My wife and I stayed at Ravenwood Castle this past weekend 11/14 11/15/2009. When I made my reservation I let them know I was a pilot and they were happy to come pick my wife and I up from Vinton Co Airport. Once we landed, we gave them a call and one of the owners arrived at the airport within 5 minutes. Later that evening we realized we forgot a bag in the airplane and they were happy to give us a ride back over to the airport. The stay was great, the food was great and the hosts were great. When it came time to leave, they again gave us a ride. I tried to tip them for their help with transportation but they wouldn't hear of it. We will be going back, maybe next time with our children.

3/5/2017 - I flew to Vinton County Airport. It was pretty nice there. Way out of the way, and got my gas and plane parked with the help of the manager, Harry. Then I called the Ravenwood Castle, and Preston, who is a great guy, was at the airport in about 10 minutes. Preston and Amy are a good couple to be running such an interesting place. They are into it. They love their jobs. In the middle of the night, I needed something to eat. I ran into Preston who was up late doing some paperwork, and he got me a quick snack. This isn't a place for people looking for an adrenaline rush. But it's a good place to unwind. Kick back. Enjoy some quiet. We also had a pretty good time meeting some of the other guests. Most guests were into the board game thing. They must have 100s of board games Even though we weren't doing that, we had a really relaxing time. Note: There is no TV, poor cell phone service and no internet. Since I had my laptop, and they had a movie DVDs no charge my wife and my wife and I watched one movie in our room. They do have a phone for guests to use if you need to make a call.
