Saturday, Jun 29, 2013 - Goshen, IN - Rotors 'n Ribs
Goshen Municipal Airport (KGSH)
The second-annual Rotors 'n Ribs helicopter fly-in will take place Saturday, June 29 rain date, June 30 from 10AM to 4PM in Goshen, Indiana. The goal this year is for the event to become the largest gathering of helicopters in the nation. This event at the Goshen Municipal Airport is free and open to the general public, and it will be bigger and better than ever! No pre-registration is required. The event is designed to be a fun day for pilots and enthusiasts to show off their helicopters and share their flying experiences and love of helicopters. On hand will be all the most popular civil and business helicopters, including those built by Bell, Robinson, Enstrom, Brantley, and many more. There will be demonstrations of different helicopters, including a pair of Vietnam UH-1 Hueys. There will also be a featured seminar from lead weather forecaster Sam Lashley, as well as thrilling skydiving displays and much more — and, of course, world-famous BBQ ribs! Last year's Rotors 'n Ribs was the largest gathering of helicopters in the Midwest, with 46 helicopters in attendance. If that number increases to 60 helicopters for this year's fly-in, Rotors 'n Ribs will become the largest such event in the country! A pair of featured Vietnam UH-1 Hueys will fly in formation along with an F-100 Super Sabre. Midwest Helicopters will demonstrate how a heavy-lift helicopter puts out fires by showcasing a simulated water . EMS helicopters will be on display, and several vendors, including helicopter maintenance shops, painting services, and helicopter instructors, will be on-site. Sam Lashley, a lead weather forecaster for the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, will give a seminar titled “Weather Radar and Satellite Information for Pilots,” starting at 11AM. This seminar will explain the satellite weather delay and the function of Garmin units and XM Weather. This talk has been approved by the FAA, so pilots attending will better understand how to navigate weather safely, and will receive credit toward their Wings Program. Back by popular demand will be World Famous BBQ Ribs from Tony’s Restaurant in Findlay, Ohio, as well as great food from other local vendors and organizations. Throughout the day, viewers will enjoy watching skydivers jump from an S-58T. Free workshops and gifts will be given to all helicopter pilots who attend. In attendance will be representatives from Eurocopter, Enstrom, HAI, and many other vendors.
